Studio D brought new life to a 6,000 sq. ft. Usonian-style midcentury modern residence in Denver’s historic Hilltop neighborhood - a project that went on to be featured in Luxe Interiors + Design.
This remodel was a study in balance: preserving the home’s original architectural character while reimagining it with bold style, layered textures, and art-driven design. This project began as a cosmetic update for a creative couple and their young daughter but quickly became a showcase of Studio D’s expertise in interior design, interior architecture, and high-end residential renovation. The clients, both deeply rooted in the creative marketing industry, brought unique perspectives - she, a lover of Paris, maximalist glamour, and statement design; he, drawn to minimalist forms and midcentury modern restraint. Studio D’s role was to interpret these distinct sensibilities and fuse them into a cohesive, sophisticated whole.
Art curation became the soul of the remodel. The couple’s impressive, travel-collected art was paired with significant commissioned pieces, which served as the foundation for the interiors. Rooms were designed around these works - most notably a monumental wall-sized canvas in the dining room - ensuring that art and architecture worked in dialogue rather than hierarchy.
The design approach honored original details - such as rich woodwork and classic glass block - while modern updates elevated the home’s interiors. A timeless black-and-white palette anchored the design, accented with bold moments of color, pattern, and texture. In the parlor - aptly nicknamed The Jungle Room - lush tropical wallpaper channels the spirit of iconic Beverly Hills hotels and connects seamlessly to the bamboo garden just beyond a dramatic pivot door.
The Hilltop remodel stands as a testament to Studio D’s ability to merge preservation with innovation. By honoring the home’s midcentury modern roots while layering in Hollywood glam, vintage finds, and contemporary comfort, the design feels both personal and iconic. This project exemplifies Studio D’s signature approach to Denver interior design and interior architecture - transforming existing spaces into homes that are not only beautiful, but also deeply reflective of the people who live in them.
